That doesn’t mean you can’t be a guru – you’ve just got to go about it in a community-minded way.
It means connecting with the people you’re serving instead of preaching at them.
Listening to what they actually think of you.
I’ve worked with enough gurus (both as a marketer and client) to know there are a LOT of disgruntled customers hiding what they really think.
Not from one another, believe me, they talk between themselves.
But they’re hiding what they think about you, from you.
The good news is it’s easy to turn disgruntled customers into mega fans before your reputation takes a hit.
(People talk, remember.)
But only IF you listen to what’s making them unhappy.
Customer loyalty, referrals and sales go up when you start meeting people where they’re AT instead of where you think they’re at.
